Are you an RV enthusiast looking for unique destinations that offer something different from the usual national parks? Well, you're in luck! We've scoured the internet and found a fantastic YouTube video from the channel "Like There's No Tomorrow" that explores some hidden gems perfect for your next RV adventure. These destinations are not just beautiful but also offer unique experiences that you won't find in the more crowded national parks. Below, we’ve highlighted the top six spots.
1. Blue Ridge Mountains, Georgia
The Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia offer a serene escape with picturesque landscapes. "We stayed at the Blue Ridge TOA River KOA, and it was beautiful. We got to fish right there on the river," says Barry from the video. The cool mountain air and morning mist create a magical atmosphere. Plus, you can go white-water rafting and enjoy a peaceful fishing trip. And if you're not into fishing, you can still enjoy the boat trip—it's a win-win!
The misty mornings are perfect for pretending you're in a horror movie, just make sure not to scream too loud and scare the fish away!
2. Moundsville, West Virginia
Moundsville may have started as a disaster for these RV travelers, but it turned into an unforgettable experience. "Once we finally got there, it was a campground perched on top of a mountain with amazing views," says Darlene. The Grand View Park offers not just scenic beauty but also an Adventure Park with high rope walks and zip lines. And don’t miss the Palace of Gold, a stunning structure built by the Hare Krishnas.
Who knew West Virginia had its own version of an Indian palace? Next thing you know, they'll be serving curry at the local diner!
3. Asheville, North Carolina
Asheville is a hipster haven with a unique blend of city vibes and mountain charm. "Asheville is kind of a hipster town," Barry quips. Known as the Brewery Capital of the East Coast, it offers a plethora of breweries and cideries. Don't miss the electric bike brewery crawl and the LaZoom Haunted Comedy Tour for a mix of history and hilarity.
If you’re a beer lover, Asheville is basically Disneyland for adults—minus the giant mouse and long lines!
4. Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston is steeped in history and offers a unique blend of old-world charm and modern attractions. "One of my favorite places was the dungeon," Barry mentions. The Old South Carriage Company offers historical tours that are both informative and entertaining. And don’t forget to explore the shrimping industry with a behind-the-scenes tour at Shem Creek.
Riding an electric bike through Charleston is like time-traveling with a turbo boost—just don't run over any ghosts from the past!
5. Monterey, California
Monterey offers stunning coastal views and unique experiences like the 17-Mile Drive. "We bypassed all the lines and just rode our bikes," says Darlene. The coastal towns and breathtaking scenery make it a must-visit. And if you’re into golf, Pebble Beach is right there!
The 17-Mile Drive is so scenic, you might forget to drive and just start taking selfies—just make sure not to crash!
6. Coos Bay, Oregon
Coos Bay offers an adventurous experience with its sand dunes and tide pools. "We got to go dune buggy riding on big giant sand dunes," Barry recalls. The Spinreel Dune Buggy ATV Tour is a must-try. And don’t miss the tide pools filled with colorful marine life.
Riding a dune buggy is like being in a Mad Max movie, minus the apocalypse—just remember to hold on tight!
