When it comes to finding the perfect campground, there are countless factors to consider: location, amenities, site sizes, and overall atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned camper or a weekend warrior, choosing the right spot can make or break your outdoor adventure. We delve into the highlights of Paradise Lake Campground in Spout Spring, Virginia, which we discovered through a fantastic video from the Endless RV YouTube channel. Below, we've summarized the key points from the video, but be sure to watch the entire video at the bottom of the article for an in-depth review.
1. Location
Paradise Lake Campground is ideally situated just 15-20 minutes from Liberty University in Lynchburg, making it a convenient choice for families visiting students or attending events at the university. The drive is straightforward, with easy access to downtown Lynchburg. If you’re like me and have a knack for getting lost even with GPS, you’ll appreciate the simplicity of the route. Plus, who doesn’t love a campground that’s close enough to civilization for a quick coffee run but still feels like a nature retreat?
2. Site Sizes and Navigation
Navigating into Paradise Lake Campground is a breeze. The roads are wide, and the registration area is spacious enough to accommodate multiple RVs at once. We stayed at Site 4, which boasts a generous 60-70 feet length. Our 37-foot motorhome and a large van fit comfortably, with room to spare. The gravel sites are relatively level, though you might need a bit of leveling depending on where you park. And let’s be honest, there’s something incredibly satisfying about not having to perform a 10-point turn just to park your RV.
3. Amenities and Hookups
Full hookups are available at many sites, including water, 15/30 amp electricity, and sewer. While the campground Wi-Fi is not the best, we found that using our own AT&T connection and Starlink worked perfectly. With speeds averaging over 200 Mbps down, streaming your favorite shows or working remotely is a non-issue. And if you’re anything like me, you’ll appreciate the ability to binge-watch your favorite series under the stars.
4. Pet-Friendly Environment
Paradise Lake Campground is very accommodating to pets, with plenty of open space for walking dogs. There’s even a large field where you can let your dog run on a long leash. The only downside? The abundance of bugs that seem to love our furry friends just as much as we do. But hey, what’s camping without a few bug bites to reminisce about?
5. Additional Amenities
This campground offers a range of additional amenities, including a basketball court, laundry facilities, a lake with a slide, a game room, and a pool. There’s also a playground and a pavilion for group gatherings. If you’re like me and can’t shoot a basketball to save your life, at least you can enjoy watching others attempt to be the next Michael Jordan while you lounge by the pool.
6. Pricing and Value
One of the standout features of Paradise Lake Campground is its affordability. At just $56 per night for full hookups, it offers excellent value compared to other campgrounds that charge upwards of $100 per night. Given the well-maintained grounds and ample amenities, it’s a steal. And let’s face it, saving money on camping means more funds for marshmallows, right?
