Welcome to an exciting tour of Brad and Donia's incredible bus conversion! Brad, a former general contractor, and Donia, his creative partner, have transformed a 1985 Crown Super Coach into a cozy and functional home on wheels. Their journey from real estate to "real estate" on wheels is a testament to their ingenuity and passion for the nomadic lifestyle. With a blend of practicality and unique design elements, their bus conversion is a stunning example of what can be achieved with vision and hard work. In a video from Tiny Home Tours, we get see this stunning conversion. Here are our favorite 10 things about their home.
1. The Spacious Kitchen
"My favorite thing about this kitchen is being able to have multiple people in here cooking food and sharing stories," says Donia. The large kitchen boasts quartz countertops, plenty of drawer space, and even a large sink perfect for washing grandkids or their small dog. It's a chef's dream come true, with a layout that makes entertaining a breeze. Who knew a bus could have a kitchen that rivals most homes? Just don't try to fit a Thanksgiving turkey in that oven!
2. The Cozy Living Room
Brad proudly shows off the living room, saying, "We had probably 10 or 12 people in here the other night, a guitar over here, a guitar over there, somebody playing guitar, it was just great." The living room features a fold-out couch, a custom-made table, and plenty of seating for guests. It's the perfect space for gatherings, whether it's a cozy movie night or an impromptu jam session. Just remember, no mosh pits allowed!
3. The Innovative Bathroom
"We put a lot of thought into the bathroom because it is such a small space," Brad explains. The bathroom features a carved granite sink, a shower with adjustable height, and a Nature's Head composting toilet. Despite its size, the bathroom is efficient and stylish, with plenty of storage space for toiletries. It's like a mini spa on wheels—minus the masseuse, unfortunately.
4. The Functional Hallway
Donia highlights the dual-purpose hallway, saying, "This is our laundry room and pantry." The space includes a washer-dryer combo, pull-out pantries, and additional storage. It's a clever use of space that ensures everything has its place, even in a compact environment. Who needs a walk-in closet when you can have a walk-through laundry room?
5. The Cozy Master Suite
"We have AC in the back that works just great. I mean, we can either roast ourselves out of here or chill ourselves out of here with this baby," Brad jokes. The master suite features a queen-sized bed, plenty of storage, and a window that offers stunning views. It's a cozy retreat that feels more like a yacht than a bus. Just don't forget to duck when getting out of bed if you're taller than average!
6. The Ingenious Storage Solutions
"We have toe kick drawers, three on each side in the kitchen, so we really maximized all the storage," Donia mentions. From hidden compartments to open shelving, every inch of the bus is utilized for storage. It's a declutterer's dream, but let's be real—you're still going to lose your keys.
7. The Custom Dining Table
"The table folds out, it's got a pivot point on each side where this whole thing folds out and then the top folds into a nice large table," Brad explains. This custom dining table is perfect for hosting dinner parties or game nights. It folds away neatly when not in use, proving that even in a small space, you can still dine in style. Just watch out for elbows when it’s fully extended!
8. The Efficient Heating and Cooling System
"I have a dual zone mini split and this is the front zone of the mini split," Brad says. The bus is equipped with a highly efficient heating and cooling system, ensuring comfort in any weather. Whether you're in the scorching desert or a snowy mountain, you'll be cozy inside. Just be prepared for thermostat wars!
9. The Thoughtful Design Elements
"All of the drop ceilings that you see through the bus, this is all Hickory trimmed pecan veneers," Brad proudly points out. The bus is filled with thoughtful design elements, from custom woodwork to reclaimed materials. Every detail has been carefully considered to create a warm and inviting space. It's like living inside a Pinterest board—minus the DIY fails.
10. The Sense of Community
"This community is so open and giving with information," Donia reflects. Beyond the physical aspects of the bus, Brad and Donia cherish the sense of community they have found on the road. The nomadic lifestyle has introduced them to a network of like-minded individuals who share their passion for tiny living. It's a reminder that home is not just a place, but a feeling of belonging.
